Troop 200 – adventure is waiting.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you are an Arrow-Of-Light or Webelo that’s looking to continue your scouting experience, or if you are a boy who is curious about Boy Scouts, read this and you’ll get an idea of what sets Troop 200 apart from other troops in the area and why joining Troop 200 is setting you up for a life of adventure.<\/p>\n

For Boys…

Bored and tired of the same old stuff?\u00a0 Troop 200 might be what you’re looking for.\u00a0 We pick the things we do as a troop, so there is always something new and different to do.\u00a0 \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A typical Monday night meeting may include:\u00a0 learning fire building skills, playing manhunt, pulling electronics apart to see how they work or hearing from engineers, State Troopers, lawyers or veterans.\u00a0 Whatever we do is decided by our scouts.\u00a0 You can read our blogs<\/a> to get an idea of what we’re all about.<\/p>\n

Every been on a camping trip and run out of firewood?\u00a0 That didn’t stop us, we rallied the troop and our scouts came to the rescue!<\/p>\n

For Parents…<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Scouting encourages a well-rounded<\/strong> balance of activities, your son doesn\u2019t \"\"<\/a>have to attend every Scouting event or meeting because we understand how busy life is!\u00a0 The good news is, Scouts progress at their own pace and gives the boys opportunities to…<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. develop leadership and communication skills<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. learn responsibility<\/strong> and trouble shooting skills.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. get involved by serving the community<\/strong> via community service projects.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. expand their knowledge<\/strong> by trying new things and going new places.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. build skills and self reliance<\/strong> that will serve them their entire lives.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Since 1955, we’ve had 91 scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout.\u00a0 Scouts who earn the rank of Eagle Scout<\/strong> find that it opens doors for them for the rest of their lives.\u00a0 By the time your son is applying to college, he will find that Scouting has given him a rich resume of experience, service and achievement.<\/p>\n

    Travel teams, music lessons, martial arts…these days kids are doing so much. Just remember Scouting is as much who you are as what you do. It<\/span> provides an escape from the school-sports hamster wheel, some space for kids to be kids!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    In our troop most Boy Scouts are active other activities e.g. cross\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 country and track, fencing, wrestling, basketball, football, SKIT, marching band, martial arts, etc.\u00a0 but they always seem to make time for scouting because THEY see the value in it.\u00a0 It’s perfectly OK to be focused on a sport or another activity for part of the year. It’s normal and doesn’t prevent Scouts reaching Eagle.<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/a>Give it a try…you won’t regret it!<\/strong><\/p>\n

    If you are a graduating Arrow-of-Light Scout – CONGRATULATIONS – a Webelo looking for a troop to crossover to, or 11 years old or older…come to one of our weekly meetings at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale.\u00a0 We’ll also be having a few open house events and activities for you to come check us out.\u00a0 We think you’ll like it enough to stick around.<\/p>\n
