Troop 200 Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every spring the Troop gets together for a Troop Organization Workshop to decide on the activities and events that they want to pursue during the next scouting year.\u00a0 While some of the activities are tried and true Troop 200 traditions, the boys do like to try new and different things! \u00a0 In 2020-21 we have a lot of great adventures and activities planned, but remain flexible as things change due to COVID-19.\u00a0 Stay tuned for more info, but below are some of the things we&#8217;ve done in the recent past.<\/p>\n<p>2020-21<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hiking around NJ and PA as we <strong>prepare for Philmont 2021<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Orienteering<\/strong> at Round Valley<\/li>\n<li><strong>Iron Chef<\/strong> cooking competition<\/li>\n<li><strong>Winter camp-out<\/strong> at Ockanickon Scout Reservations<\/li>\n<li>We <strong>collected 8 tons of food<\/strong> for local food pantries<\/li>\n<li>Fall <strong>Court of Honor<\/strong> at the Polish Americans Citizens Club<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rocket Launch with Pack 190<\/strong> at the Lebanon Baptist Camp<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clean-up at the 1750&#8217;s Gitlow Homestead<\/strong> in Clinton Township<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hobo\/Movie campout<\/strong> at Round Valley Youth Center<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recruiting Events:\u00a0<\/strong> Manhunt Monday, Minute-to-Win-it Night, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Court of Honor for our <strong>91st Eagle Scout<\/strong> at Holjes-Sheppard Memorial Park<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hiking, camping and time on the range<\/strong> (Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation and the Appalachian Trail)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hiking and camping on the Appalachian Trail<\/strong> (Hickory Run State Park)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Check out the list of activities that the Troop has participated in during the 2019-20 scouting year:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">We met regularly over the summer, getting outdoors as much as possible to hike, kayak, fish and more.\u00a0 We even held several &#8216;<strong>clean-up days&#8217; in Clinton<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Readjusted, flexed and adapted during the <strong>COVID-19 pandemic<\/strong>.\u00a0 We <a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Screenshot_2020-04-18-Troop-200-troop_200_nj-\u2022-Instagram-photos-and-videos.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-2013\" 176px\" \/><\/a>continued to meet regularly via Zoom.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve earned merit badges, advanced in rank and so much more.\u00a0 So many of our plans were canceled or postponed, including:\u00a0 our Spring trip to Seabase Florida, an Eagle Court of Honor, our Spring Court of Honor, hikes, camping trips, By Boot or By Boat, our annual flag retirement ceremony and summer camp&#8230;but that didn&#8217;t stop us, we continued to meet all summer long, and when it was permitted, we met in person.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Welcomed six new scouts into the troop&#8230;who quickly named themselves the <strong>Soaring Llamas patrol<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Volunteered at the annual KofC <strong>pancake breakfast<\/strong> at Immaculate Conception Church.\u00a0 We also participated in <strong>&#8216;scouting for food&#8217;<\/strong> at Walmart in Clinton.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The Council of Ricks hiked near the <strong>Delaware Water Gap<\/strong>, prepping for Philmont 2020.\u00a0 The troop camped at NoBeBosCo and hiked the <strong>Appalachian Trail<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Held our <strong>Winter Court of Honor<\/strong>, recognizing scouts for their achievements&#8230;including Nate N. who broke a troop record for merit badges earned.\u00a0 When all was said and done, he earned 106! <a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/IMG_6115.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2005\" 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">We nominated four scouts for the <strong>Order of the Arrow<\/strong>, scouting&#8217;s honor society.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Participated in <strong>Scout Sunday<\/strong> at Immaculate Conception Church&#8230;we&#8217;re proud to support the organization that does so much for us.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Survived <strong>Klondike 2020.<\/strong>..the icy rain, wind and mud didn&#8217;t stop us.\u00a0 We took home third place when it was all said and done.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Went on a <strong>4-mile snowy hike<\/strong> at the Cushetunk Mountain Nature Preserve.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Welcomed our <strong>91st Eagle Scout<\/strong> &#8211; Nate Nemeth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Spread holiday cheer at the <strong>Clinton Holiday Parade<\/strong> (did you see our float&#8230;the giant pontoon boat?).\u00a0 We caroled at Country Arch in Pittstown and had a holiday pizza party at the Lebanon Reformed Church.\u00a0 We also went <strong>indoor rock climbing<\/strong> in Doylestown.<a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/20200222_133458.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" #333399;\">Earned our <strong>Cyberchip<\/strong>s,\u00a0 worked on some wood projects, held several recruiting events like our <strong>Reptile Night<\/strong> and <strong>Turkey Bowl<\/strong> as well as our annual <strong>Family Thanksgiving<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">At our October <strong>Court of Honor<\/strong> we celebrated the achievements of our scouts.\u00a0 Some highlights:\u00a0 55 Merit Badges were earned, Rusty earned the Mile Swim Award, Nate earned his 99th Merit Badge and 11 Scouts earned the BSA Kayaking Badge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">One of our traditions is our <strong>&#8216;Movie&#8217; campout&#8217;<\/strong> at Round Valley Youth Center.\u00a0 Each patrol made movies and local Webelos are invited to join us.\u00a0 As always, we had a great time!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">We held a <strong>Manhunt Monday<\/strong> meeting where we invited Webelos and Arrows of Lights to join us to learn more about the troop.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">During September we attended several <strong>&#8216;back to school&#8217;<\/strong> events and Pack activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">We had perfect weather (a bit windy, but no rain!) for our first camping trip of the year when we headed to <strong>Wildwood for Beach Jam<\/strong>.\u00a0 The boardwalk, body surfing in the ocean, hanging on the beach playing King of the Mountain, and endless rides&#8230;a perfect weekend.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Our PLC began meeting in August and we held our first meeting of the year at <strong>Valley Crest Farm.<\/strong> We had three guests join us to learn more about the troop.<a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_5442.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1764\" src=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_5442-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_5442-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_5442-768x576.jpg 768w, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\">We headed south to Virginia to spend a week at <strong>Camp Powhatan<\/strong>.\u00a0 It was one of the best camps we&#8217;ve been to and came home with over 4 dozen merit badges and a lifetime of memories!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Check out the list of activities that the Troop has participated in during the 2018-19 scouting year:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We marched in Lebanon&#8217;s annual 4th of July parade and volunteered to help the committee set up and cleanup.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Our annual <strong>By Boot or By Boat camp-out<\/strong> was even better than last year.\u00a0 We had great weather and enjoyed the weekend swimming, boating, and having a great time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In June, at our <strong>Spring Court of Honor, <\/strong>we recognized troop members who earned rank advancements and merit badges.\u00a0 We also took time to recognize outgoing Scoutmaster, Mike Marosy, and outgoing Committee Chairman Ed Marjorossy for their many dedicated years of service to our troop.\u00a0 We also welcomed new Scoutmaster, Jeff Lutz.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In June we planned out next year at our <strong>annual TOW meeting<\/strong>.\u00a0 We made a lot of decisions which helped us get a jump start on planning the upcoming year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Two scouts from the Council of Ricks patrol became members of the Order of the Arrow after attending their Ordeal weekend.\u00a0 (Congrats Justin and Andrew!)<a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_2588.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1645\" src=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_2588-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_2588-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_2588-768x576.jpg 768w, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We retired dozens of flags at our <strong>Flag Retirement Ceremony<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In late April we held our annual <strong>Iron Chef competition <\/strong>at Ockanickon.\u00a0 This year&#8217;s theme was &#8216;All American&#8217; and the secret ingredient was Pringles!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We headed out to an <strong>indoor trampoline park<\/strong> one afternoon after the Ricks&#8217; patrol event (skiing) was cancelled b\/c of the rain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The Venomous Cobras patrol went <strong>indoor rock climbing<\/strong>, earning the climbing merit badge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In March we camped in northern NJ and took at 10+ mile hike through historic <strong>Jockey Hollow<\/strong> and visited nearby Washington&#8217;s HQ in Morristown.\u00a0 A group of us earned the Jockey Hollow medal, too.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We headed to <strong>NOBEBOSCO<\/strong> where we camped in cabins, hiked a <a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/nobebosco-2019-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1612\" src=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/nobebosco-2019-3-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/nobebosco-2019-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/nobebosco-2019-3.jpg 754w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>portion of the Appalachian Trail and had a great time.\u00a0 Our grub masters are really stepping up their games!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We attended a <strong>Blue and Gold banquet.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We volunteered at our the <strong>Immaculate Conception Church&#8217;s annual pancake breakfast<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In February we participated in the annual <strong>Hunterdon Arrowhead District Food Drive<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We participated in <strong>Scout Sunday<\/strong> at Immaculate Conception Church.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Our <strong>Winter Court of Honor<\/strong> was held in February and we recognized many accomplishments across all levels of the troop.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We participated in the <strong>Klondike derby<\/strong> and had a great time&#8230;looking forward to next year&#8217;s competition.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Our 90th Eagle Scout<\/strong>, Zack Majorossy passed his Eagle Board of Review &#8211; congrats!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We went <strong>caroling at Veteran&#8217;s Haven North<\/strong> &amp; had a pizza party!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We went on an <strong>urban hike through lower Manhattan<\/strong>.\u00a0 We toured the 9\/11 museum and memorial, walked through Zucotti Park, down to Wall Street and beyond.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We held a number of <strong>Merit Badge Mondays<\/strong> throughout the year, giving us the opportunity to earn a lot of badges including:\u00a0 Family Life, Dog Care, Communications, Engineering, Photography, Citizenship of the Nation, Art, and more!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Held our annual T<strong>roop 200 Thanksgiving<\/strong> dinner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We hosted three <strong>WWII veterans<\/strong> to a special Veteran&#8217;s Day meeting, opening up the meeting to the general public.\u00a0 It was an amazing night hearing from these local heroes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We participated in <strong>popcorn sales<\/strong> and held our annual <strong>Christmas tree wreath sale<\/strong> at Immaculate Conception.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">At our October <strong>Court of Honor<\/strong> we celebrated the achievements of our scouts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In the fall, we held an <strong>Open House<\/strong> and met some really great Webelos who are looking to join a troop in February\/March.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We held annual <strong>&#8216;Movie&#8217; campout<\/strong> at Round Valley Youth Center.\u00a0 Each patrol made movies (ask us about the sequel to last year&#8217;s Shrekenator!).\u00a0 We invited local Webelos to join us and had a lot of fun getting to know them!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We held one of our very first meetings of the year at <strong>Valley Crest Farm<\/strong> and had a special guest, a scout from Israel come and share his scouting experiences with us.\u00a0 While some things are the same, some are very different!\u00a0 It was cool to hear from him.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We spent a week at <strong>summer camp at Resica Falls<\/strong>.\u00a0 Tons to do&#8230;our scouts went four wheeling, learned about electronics and welding, earned tons of merit badges and had a great time in the Pocono Mountains.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Check out the list of activities that the Troop has participated in during the 2017-18 scouting took time out to earn our kayaking merit badges while others mastered the fine art of outdoor cooking!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">In June we planned out next year at our <strong>annual TOW meeting<\/strong>.\u00a0 Lots of great ideas:\u00a0 Boston or DC, a football game or a basketball game, Gettysburg or Mount Vernon, hiking the Appalachian Trail or Washington Crossing State Park, archery or rock climbing&#8230;.we made some tough decisions and cannot wait until next year!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We headed out to an <strong>indoor trampoline park<\/strong> one afternoon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We partnered with Valley Crest Farm and Preserve to host a <strong>Merit Badge Fair<\/strong> in May.\u00a0 There were over 19 badges to choose from and over 80 Boy Scouts from NY, NJ and PA attended.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Over 150 people came out to help us retire worn US flags at our <strong>Flag Retirement Ceremony<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Lebanon Borough Fired Department, veterans, Rolling Thunder and the Cub Scouts helped out, too!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">During the first weekend of May we headed to Ockanickon for the <strong>Iron Chef<\/strong>.\u00a0 This year&#8217;s theme was Cinco de Mayo and the secret ingredient was chocolate!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">During April we hosted a meeting where scouts and volunteers shared <strong>military memorabilia<\/strong> and we also heard from veterans and active military personnel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">In April we headed down to <strong>Sandy Hook for a camp-out<\/strong>.\u00a0 We toured the <strong>Nike Air Missile Center<\/strong> and hiked through one of the country&#8217;s oldest holly forests.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">During early spring we had <strong>two scouts pass their Eagle Boards of Review<\/strong> and we also held <strong>three Eagle Court of Honors<\/strong>!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We held a <strong>New Parent Orientation spring camp-out<\/strong> over Spring Break where they worked on their survival and cooking skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">In March we headed to <strong>Frost Valley in the Catskills<\/strong> where we went cross country skiing, had a snowball fight, went rock climbing, went snow tubing, and many other cool activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We went rock climbing in Doylestown.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Between February and March we attended three <strong>Blue and Gold banquets<\/strong> and <strong>welcomed six new scouts<\/strong> into the troop.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We volunteered at our the <strong>Immaculate Conception Church&#8217;s annual pancake breakfast<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">In February we participated in the annual <strong>Hunterdon Arrowhead District Food Drive<\/strong>, collecting over 400 bags of food at WalMart.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Our <strong>Winter Court of Honor<\/strong> was held in February and we recognized many accomplishments across all levels of the troop, including a few Eagle Scouts!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We spent the day at <strong>Cisco Systems<\/strong> working towards our <strong>Digital Technology merit badge.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We went <strong>caroling at Veteran&#8217;s Haven North<\/strong> &amp; had a pizza party!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Council of Ricks hosted a <strong>Laser Tag<\/strong> event for friends and Webelos.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We went <strong>rock climbing<\/strong> and camped overnight at the Gravity Vault in Doylestown.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We worked on our <strong>Family Life merit badge<\/strong> &#8211; a requirement for Eagle!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We welcomed <strong>two new members<\/strong> into the troop &#8211; glad they found us after moving into the area!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Held our annual T<strong>roop 200 Thanksgiving<\/strong> dinner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Participated in the Washington Crossing Council&#8217;s <strong>rifle competition<\/strong> at Ockanickon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Held the <strong>dedication<\/strong> of the memorial at NHHS (a troop 200 Eagle Scout project).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We participated in <strong>popcorn sales<\/strong> and held our annual <strong>Christmas tree wreath sale<\/strong> at Immaculate Conception.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We headed up to <strong>West Point<\/strong> for an Army football game.\u00a0 Great time at the game and camping out.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">At our October <strong>Court of Honor<\/strong> we unveiled our new banners.\u00a0 89 merit badges were earned, 3 scouts earned their Eagle rank and 1 earned their Eagle Palm\/gold!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We volunteered the <strong>Hunterdon Arrowhead District awards dinner<\/strong> in Flemington, had a Klondike Derby display table and met an astronaut.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We held an <strong>Open House<\/strong> in September and happy to meet some of the Webelos who are looking to join a troop this winter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">We held annual <strong>&#8216;Hobo&#8217; campout<\/strong> at Round Valley Youth Center in September.\u00a0 Each patrol made movies (ask us about the sequel to last year&#8217;s Shrekenator!).\u00a0 We invited local Webelos to join us and had a lot of fun getting to know them!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003300;\">A group of us headed down to Wildwood, NJ for <strong>Beach Jam<\/strong> in mid-September.\u00a0 Perfect weather for rides, the beach and the boardwalk.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Here are some activities that the Troop participated in during the 2016-2017 scouting year:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Sea Base Sailing Adventure<\/strong> &#8211; some of our older Scouts traveled to the Bahamas for Sea Base in over the summer.<\/span>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_598\"
