{"id":877,"date":"2017-09-29T20:06:45","date_gmt":"2017-09-30T00:06:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/?page_id=877"},"modified":"2020-08-28T18:47:46","modified_gmt":"2020-08-28T22:47:46","slug":"join-troop-200","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/?page_id=877","title":{"rendered":"Join Troop 200"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Join Troop 200 &amp; let the adventure begin<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Troop 200 was founded in 1955, and over 65 years we&#8217;ve developed today&#8217;s boys into tomorrow&#8217;s leaders while making a difference in our local community and the world&#8230;while having fun!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We are committed to staying true to the Scout-led concept.\u00a0 Led by the Patrol Leader\u2019s Council &#8211; a group of Scouts elected by the troop &#8211; these boys make virtually all decisions about how the troop is run and what trips\/events to take.\u00a0 We can&#8217;t think of any other organization that teaches practical application of leadership skills (and life skills).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Give your son a valuable gift by encouraging him to join Boy Scouting today. The time you invest in him today will make a difference in the person he becomes tomorrow.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The trips and events selected by the boys are something special. \u00a0Troop 200 Scouts have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Hiked portions the <strong>Appalachian Trail<\/strong> in <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-jersey\/flemington\/local-scouts-take-hike\">Pennsylvania<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-jersey\/flemington\/rain-sleet-or-snow-not-problem-bsa-troop-200\">New Jersey<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Hiked 10+ miles through historic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newjerseyhills.com\/hunterdon_review\/news\/boy-scout-troop-hikes-historic-jockey-hollow-in-morristown-s\/article_5e55a8f5-9c45-5248-a7a1-2d1f877790c3.html\"><strong>Jockey Hollow<\/strong><\/a> and visited nearby Washington&#8217;s HQ.<\/li>\n<li>Visited the <strong>9<a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-jersey\/flemington\/annandale-troop-visits-9-11-musuem-memorial\">-11 Memorial and Ground Zero<\/a><\/strong> before taking an urban hike through lower Manhattan.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Spent a week at <strong>summer camp<\/strong> in places like:\u00a0 Resica Falls (Pocono Mountains) and <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-jersey\/flemington\/boy-scout-troop-200-camps-southwestern-virginia\">Camp Powhatan<\/a> in southwestern Virginia.\u00a0 During the summer of 2020 the Troop will head off to Rhode Island and Camp Yawgoog.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Hosted a <strong>Veterans Day<\/strong> round table where three local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/hunterdon-county-democrat\/2018\/11\/world_war_ii_veterans_spend_time_with_members_of_b.html\">WWII veterans<\/a> shared their stories.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Attended the <strong>24th World Scout Jamboree<\/strong> at Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia.<\/li>\n<li>Visited the <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-jersey\/flemington\/troop-200-tours-nike-atlas-hercules-missile-launch-facilities\"><strong>Nike Atlas and Hercules Missile launch facilities<\/strong><\/a> near Sandy Hook.<\/li>\n<li>Tested their outdoor cooking skills at an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-jersey\/flemington\/annadale-boy-scouts-compete-iron-chef-competition\">Iron Chef<\/a> competition<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Retired worn American flags at our annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/hunterdon\/2019\/05\/boy-scout-troop-200-retires-us-flags-in-lebanon-borough.html\"><strong>flag retirement ceremony<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Toured the US Naval Academy in Annapolis and the US Military Academy at West Point (camping nearby) and have attended the school&#8217;s football games, too.<\/li>\n<li>Attended the West Point and NJSP <strong>Camporees<\/strong>, camped at the beach in Wildwood at Beach Jam, hiked through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/hunterdon-county-democrat\/2016\/06\/boy_scout_troop_200_of_annandale_visits_gettysburg.html\">Gettysburg<\/a>, visited Washington DC, attended the Klondike Derby and so much more&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">If that&#8217;s not enough, we look for bigger challenges for those older Scouts willing to do more.\u00a0 Troop 200 has:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spent a week sailing through the Bahamas at Seabase in the Bahamas.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Lived for a week on sailboats at the<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Florida Keys (Sea Base High Adventure).<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Provided scouts the opportunity to earn the <a href=\"http:\/\/The difficult to earn Triple Crown is awarded to scouts who have participated in high adventure programs at three of the four National High Adventure Bases operated by the Boy Scouts of America.\" data-wplink-url-error=\"true\">Triple Crown<\/a>, awarded to scouts who have participated in high adventure programs at three of the four National High Adventure Bases operated by the Boy Scouts of America.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Backpacked through <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Philmont High Adventure camp.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>We do have high-adventure plans for the summer of 2020 and 2021 with trips to Seabase and Philmont.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Since 1955, <a href=\"https:\/\/boyscouttroop200.org\/?page_id=665\">ninety scouts from Troop 200<\/a> have earned the prestigious Eagle Scout rank after completing service projects for our community.\u00a0 From our very first Eagle &#8211;
