Kicking off 2018-19

We kicked off September with some ‘back-to-basics’, making sure our gear was in order for Beach Jam…with a lot of catching up with each other.  The newest patrol – the Titans – aren’t so new any more and jumped right in to everything.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and Beach Jam was cancelled because of storms.  We weren’t very happy campers!

We jumped right back into everything with Popcorn sales, PLC meetings preparing for our October Movie Campout.  We welcomed Webelos from several different area Packs and a few even attended the Movie Campout.  We had a blast at RVYC, making movies, watching movies, building shelters and making dump cake.  The Council of Ricks patrol made a prequel to their Shrekenator series called the The Shrekening:  Ogrelord .  The movies were shared out the Fall COH in October.

We held one of our meetings at Valley Crest Farm and Nate invited a special guest, his friend (and fellow Scout) from Israel.  It was so great getting to meet him and learn how they do scouting outside the United States.  He was amazed at some of the things we did and he helped us start a fire and make several dump cakes.

Weather didn’t cooperate with another scheduled camp out so the Ricks decided to hold an impromptu hike/camp out to the Appalachian Trail.  Andrew, Cameron, John and Ryan and several assistant scout masters hiked more than six miles with 1200-feet elevation gained to Pulpit Rock and Pinnacle Peak. They also spent time exploring a large blue rock boulder field near their campsite in Pennsylvania.

In early November we held our annual ‘Holiday Greens Sale’ at ICC – selling wreaths, grave blankets and roping.  We had a great turnout and appreciate friends, family and community members for their support.  All of the items were available for pickup (or prearranged delivery) the two weekends after Thanksgiving.  (Thanks to Mr. Martoccia for organizing this for us!)
